Parents of Hoover Elementary School,
I am thrilled to welcome you back to our 2021-2022 school year. It is truly an honor for me to continue to serve the students at Hoover Elementary School. I am privileged to work with an outstanding staff to make it a smooth transition for our students during these uncertain times. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children achieve their highest potential.
We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. Therefore, I am asking you to help guide and support your student(s) by ensuring that they:
Attend school daily, on time and ready for the day’s learning experience
Complete all homework assignments
Read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
Share school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life
Inform you if they need additional support in any area or subject
Know that you expect them to succeed in school and go on to college or enter a trade
The start of the school year is fastly approaching (August 25th). One of the most important factors as we get ready for the students’ return is safety and security of our students. We have been working hard all summer to plan for a safe opening of school and to implement best practices to mitigate the risks associated with the coronavirus. Our classrooms have been modified to increase social distancing, signage has been installed throughout the building to guide students and our schedules have been modified to allow for safe washroom breaks.
I would also like to emphasize the importance of joining our school PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization). This organization gives parents and teachers the opportunity to work together to supplement and enrich the students’ educational experiences. Our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s programs and operations.
Hoover Elementary School is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our school and have high expectations for each and every student. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. The Hoover/Schrum motto, ‘What’s Best for Kids’, will continue to guide our mission to provide a rigorous and joyful school environment. Our goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love of learning.
To my Hoover Family, please stay connected and informed by following our District website, and info app for important updates and information regarding district/school business.
Again, welcome and I look forward to an outstanding year!
